OUR MINISTRIES
Prayer
The importance of prayer, both individually and corporately cannot be over-emphasized. It is one of the cornerstones of our praise and worship, and is our way of talking direct to our Lord and Saviour. We hold prayer meetings before our Sunday services. We also hold a Prayer Meeting on Tueday evenings. We also have a prayer cascade so that we can pray immediately for anyone who is in urgent need or crisis in their lives.
Leadership Team
In the absence of a pastor, the Chapel is overseen by our deacons, Richard, Lyndon and Mark. They jointly oversee the pastoral care, administration and leadership of the church. Indiviually, Richard organises the pulpit supply schedule, audio recording of sermons and maintains the church garden, whilst Lyndon is the treasurer, looks after the buildings and fabric, and leads the young people outreach and Mark is responsible for the website, prayer cascade, notices and deals with missionary matters.
Missionary Support
Here at Storrington Chapel we believe that it is important to try to support various groups involved in evangilising missionary work not only through prayer, but financially too. Therefore, we specifically use moneys collected during the our communion Sunday service in such a way.
In February 2025 we will be supporting the work of Open Doors UK. Every day, millions of Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. In more than 70 countries, Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term. In the UK and Ireland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom.
To find out more about them and the incredible work that they do, you can visit their website by clicking here .
Sunday School (3-6 and 7-11)
Our Sunday School, and children's outreach is temporarily on-hold as we do not have sufficient children currently in attendance to run these groups.
When we do return, we know that it is important to have a place where the children can learn about God, what the Bible is, how that is important to us all today and they are able to ask questions about that.
Young Person's Group
We are in a similar situation with our Young Person's Group, as our last attendees are now attending university or college, away from the village.
When we do restart the class for the 12 - 18 age group, our aim is to teach them to study the bible and pray so that they can grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and be salt and light in their everyday lives.
Local Outreach
It is our role, as an evangelical church, to spread our Lord's word to the local area. During 2022 we introduced our hugely popular monthly outreach series Would You Believe It?, and in 2023 we expanded this series bringing in celebrity Christian speakers including singer and presenter JB Gill, former Premiership footballer Linvoy Primus and the world-renown scientist and creationist Professor Stuart Burgess.. Additionally, we have the Chapel cafe, on a Friday afternoon, the 5 Loaves Cafe which is completely free to all. Plus we have been involved in the Storrington Christmas shopping afternoon and evening promoting our Carols-by-Candlelight and Christmas services.
In 2025 we will be running the 3-2-1 course, plus other exciting events.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20
